Chelsea to trigger Giroud extension
Olivier Giroud has been somewhat of a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge this campaign.
Even before Gonzalo Higuain arrived on loan, the Frenchman played second fiddle to Alvaro Morata and at times, Eden Hazard.
Despite his lack of Premier League game time, Giroud has been a standout star for the Blues in the Europa League this campaign.
In nine games in Europe, Giroud has scored nine and assisted two for Chelsea.
But due to his lack of league playing time, Giroud was being linked with a return to Ligue 1.
However, Maurizio Sarri is now confident Chelsea will trigger a one-year extension in Giroud’s contract.
“I know the club have an option for another season, so I think he will remain.”

Chelsea eyeing Bundesliga duo
As well as seemingly keeping hold of Giroud, the Mirror are reporting that Chelsea are eyeing two more forwards this summer.
The first of which is Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski who the Mirror claim could cost Chelsea around £70m, despite being 31.
Lewandowski has scored 35 and assisted 13 in 39 games across all competitions this campaign.
The second forward being linked to Chelsea by the Mirror is Borussia Dortmund’s Alexander Isak.
Isak is currently on loan in the Eredivisie with Willem II were he has scored 10 in 10 league outings.
