Liverpool forward Mane reveals squad reaction to Thiago signing

Liverpool talisman Sadio Mane has revealed how his team reacted to the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

Thiago joined the Reds for £20 million after being heavily linked with the club throughout the summer.

The 29-year-old is one of the best central midfielders in the world and should bring more creativity to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

And now Mane has spoken to Liverpool FC about how his side reacted to the signing.

He said: “I think not only the fans are excited to see Thiago. For sure, especially me and my teammates were really happy to have this kind of quality in our squad. It only makes us better.

“I can see from day one in training and the game against Chelsea what he is doing. And I’m sure he will take us to another level.”

Thiago is expected to play in Liverpool’s Premier League game against Arsenal on Monday. The Spaniard will compete with Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Fabinho for a place in the starting lineup.

Mane also spoke about fellow new signings Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas. He said: “We’re looking forward to seeing Kostas and Diogo Jota as well, who is a really good signing for us. I’m really happy to have him as well.

“They are good players and they will also take us to another level, which for us is something incredible, and for the fans as well.”

Tsimikas joined from Olympiacos for a reported £11.7 million fee. The Greek international played in Liverpool’s 7-2 victory over Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

Jota signed from Premier League rivals Wolves for £41 million after agreeing personal terms. The forward is an exciting young player who will provide Roberto Firmino with competition up front.

Klopp needed to increase his attacking options after missing out on German forward Timo Werner in the summer. The 24-year-old snubbed Anfield and instead moved to Chelsea.
