Arsenal vs Napoli
Arsenal will host Napoli this coming Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash.
The Gunners will then travel to Italy on the 18th of April for the return leg.
To reach the last eight Arsenal came from 3-1 down to beat Ligue 1 outfit Rennes 4-3 over two legs.
Given Arsenal’s dismal away form this campaign, Unai Emery will be keen for his side to come out on top in the first leg.
Arsenal injury update
Speaking of Arsenal’s poor away form, the North London side travelled to Everton on Sunday.
Arsenal would lose 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from Phil Jagielka.
After losing vs Everton, Arsenal are still the only side in the Premier League yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season.
Both Laurent Koscielny and Granit Xhaka were missing from Arsenal’s defeat on Sunday, the latter of which a noticeable absentee in midfield.
As a result, Arsenal fans will have been hoping the duo will return vs Napoli on Thursday.
However, Emery suggested after Everton, that the pair are doubts for the Europa League clash:
“I don’t know. We were waiting maybe on Laurent to play today but yesterday morning we knew it was not possible.
“I want to be positive for Thursday but we see how they are progressing, they are going to be doubts.”
Emery on Xhaka and Koscielny returning on Thursday night:
“I don’t know. We were waiting maybe on Laurent to play today but yesterday morning we knew it was not possible. I want to be positive for Thursday but we see how they are progressing, they are going to be doubts.”
