Actress Angela Okorie Reportedly Re-Arrested Hours After Gaining Bail

Fresh Legal Drama Unfolds as Colleague Alleges Dispute Over Lawyer’s Fees

Nollywood was thrown into fresh turmoil on Tuesday as actress Angela Okorie was reportedly taken back into custody just hours after being released on bail from Suleja prison.

The startling development, which occurred at the prison premises shortly after her release, follows her initial arrest last week linked to a defamation petition filed by fellow actress Mercy Johnson. According to reports, the new detention stems from an alleged refusal to pay a legal fee of five million Naira to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who secured her bail.

Fellow actress Doris Ogala raised the alarm in an emotional Instagram video, claiming she was en route to the police station. “Angela has been arrested again,” Ogala stated, explaining that a friend had arranged the SAN’s services while Okorie was initially detained. “The SAN charged them N5 million… Now, when Angela knew that they had granted her bail, she started saying that she didn’t ask her to get a SAN and she wasn’t going to pay the money.”

The incident occurred less than an hour after actor Stanley Ontop had warned on social media of an alleged plot to re-arrest Okorie following her release. She had only just met her bail conditions and regained her freedom before the latest legal twist.

As of now, neither Angela Okorie nor her representatives have publicly commented on the allegations surrounding the fee dispute and her re-arrest. The situation adds another layer of complexity to a case that has captivated the Nigerian film community and left colleagues and fans awaiting further clarity.
