Atalanta Demand €50m for Nigerian Star, But Player and Inter Eager to Make Deal Happen
Ademola Lookman has made it clear that he wants to join Inter Milan this summer, with the Champions League finalists viewing the Nigerian forward as the ideal addition to their attack, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The 26-year-old, who has flourished at Atalanta since arriving in 2022, is reportedly Inter’s top target to bolster their frontline. Manager Cristian Chivu sees Lookman as the perfect complement to Lautaro Martínez, Marcus Thuram, and the club’s younger forwards, offering tactical flexibility with his ability to play across multiple systems—including a 3-4-2-1 or a 4-3-3.
Lookman, a former Charlton academy standout, has been a consistent performer for Atalanta, netting 52 goals over three seasons under Gian Piero Gasperini’s guidance. His blend of pace, creativity, and tactical intelligence has made him one of Serie A’s most dangerous attackers.
However, a deal won’t come cheap. Atalanta have slapped a €50 million (£43m) price tag on him, and club president Antonio Percassi is known to drive a hard bargain. With midfielder Ederson considered “untouchable,” Atalanta are willing to cash in on Lookman—but only if their valuation is met.
Inter’s directors, Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio, now face a tough negotiation to bring Lookman to Appiano Gentile. Will they find a way to satisfy Atalanta’s demands, or will the high asking price force them to explore other options? One thing is certain: Lookman’s heart is set on the move.
