Super Eagles Star Rejects Serie A Champions as €50m Transfer Saga Heats Up
Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has turned down a potential move to reigning Serie A champions Napoli, choosing instead to pursue his dream switch to Inter Milan, Soccernet.ng can confirm.
The 27-year-old Atalanta winger, fresh off a stellar season and a 2024 CAF Player of the Year nomination, has already agreed to personal terms with Inter on a lucrative five-year deal worth up to €5 million per year. However, the transfer now hinges on negotiations between the two Italian clubs, with Atalanta holding firm on their €50 million valuation.
Napoli had hoped to lure Lookman to the Diego Maradona Stadium, but their approach was swiftly rebuffed, as the former Leicester City man has his heart set on joining the Champions League finalists. Atletico Madrid also remains in the background, monitoring the situation closely in case Inter’s talks with Atalanta stall.
Despite currently nursing a calf injury, Lookman is eager to push through the move, while Napoli shifts focus to finalizing Victor Osimhen’s expected departure to Galatasaray. With Antonio Conte’s side also linked to Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez—a deal deemed too costly—Lookman’s future could be one of the summer’s defining transfers in Serie A.
