AFRIMA 2025: Nigerian Titans Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr Lead the Charge for Continent’s Top Music Prize

A fierce showdown for Artiste of the Year headlines the nominations as Africa’s biggest music stars prepare for a celebratory return to Nigeria this November.

The stage is set for a monumental clash of Nigerian music royalty as the nominees for the 11th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) were unveiled. Superstars Burna Boy and Davido lead the pack with an impressive five nominations each, going head-to-head for the coveted Artiste of the Year award.

They are not alone in the prestigious category. They will face stiff competition from fellow chart-toppers Rema, the rapidly rising Shallipopi, Morocco’s El Grande Toto, and the dynamic Ayra Starr, ensuring a pan-African battle for the top honor.

Shallipopi also emerged as a major force, securing four nominations, while Rema earned three. Ayra Starr’s two nominations include her well-deserved place in the Artiste of the Year contest, cementing her status among the continent’s elite.
