Swedish Striker Scores Twice, Assists Another in 3-0 Victory at St. James’ Park
Alexander Isak continued his scintillating Premier League form, scoring in his eighth consecutive league game to inspire Newcastle United to a commanding 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. The win propelled Newcastle to fourth in the table, boosting their Champions League aspirations.
Isak Leads the Charge
The Swedish forward broke the deadlock in the first half with a strike from the edge of the box, which found the bottom corner after a deflection off Wolves’ debutant Emmanuel Agbadou.
Isak’s brilliance continued after the break when he latched onto a pinpoint through-ball from Bruno Guimarães and calmly slotted past Wolves goalkeeper José Sá to double Newcastle’s lead.
In the game’s final stages, the 25-year-old turned provider, setting up Anthony Gordon to seal the victory with a composed finish following a swift counter-attack.
Wolves Struggle Despite Opportunities
Wolverhampton had their chances, with Jørgen Strand-Larsen hitting the woodwork twice, once in each half. VAR denied the visitors a late consolation goal, ruling that Hugo Bueno had handled the ball before scoring from a corner.
Despite a promising second-half performance led by Matheus Cunha, who returned from a two-match suspension, Wolves failed to convert their opportunities, leaving St. James’ Park empty-handed.
Newcastle’s Rise
The victory reflects Newcastle’s growing confidence and attacking flair under manager Eddie Howe, as they remain firmly in contention for a top-four finish. Meanwhile, Wolves, under Vítor Pereira’s guidance, continue to struggle for consistency and find themselves battling in the lower half of the table.
With Isak in unstoppable form and a cohesive team performance, Newcastle’s European ambitions look increasingly within reach. Wolves, however, will need to regroup quickly to avoid being pulled deeper into the league’s struggles.
