Allardyce aiming for ‘extremely busy’ West Brom transfer window

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce is hoping the club will have an ‘extremely busy’ transfer window this month.

The Baggies signed Robert Snodgrass from West Ham recently, who became Allardyce’s first signing since joining the club.

They also brought in backup keeper Andy Lonergan from Stoke on a free transfer.

Allardyce has now outlined their plan for the remainder of the month. Speaking after their shock FA Cup loss to Blackpool, Allardyce said: “I’m hoping to be extremely busy in the window, as I have been busy at other clubs who have been near the bottom of the table.

“It’s a part of our process now to work tirelessly on outs and ins until the end of January. There’s no point me beating about the bush, everybody knows what we need to do.

“We need to move players in this window, everybody does. We need to bring players in this window, everybody does.

“But no one more so than we do. We need players in more than anyone else in the Premier League to give us a chance of moving out of the position we’re in.”

His team are currently 19th in the Premier League table after picking up eight points from 17 matches.

Allardyce replaced Slaven Bilic after he was sacked due to their poor start to the campaign.

They desperately need to start picking up victories to claw themselves out of the relegation zone.

The loss to Blackpool won’t have done them any favours, however. Allardyce named multiple first team players in his side, including Matheus Pereira and Kyle Bartley.

They eventually lost 3-2 on penalties after drawing 2-2 in normal time.

In terms of transfer targets, the Baggies have been linked with a move for Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury.

It’s unclear right now whether they want him on loan or permanently.
