Ancelotti Breaks Silence on Real Madrid Future: “I’ll Speak on May 25”

Veteran Coach Dismisses Brazil Rumors, Vows to Fight for LaLiga Title Despite Barca Gap

Carlo Ancelotti has put an end to the swirling speculation about his future at Real Madrid—for now. The Italian manager, whose name has been heavily linked with the Brazil national team job, told reporters Saturday that he won’t address his plans until the final day of the LaLiga season.

“I can make it clear—the truth is I love my club, my players, and my fans deeply,” Ancelotti said ahead of Real’s clash with Celta Vigo. “But I’ll only talk about my future on May 25. I know what I’m doing, and right now, that means not discussing it.”

The 65-year-old, who has delivered three Champions League titles and two Club World Cups during his two spells at Madrid, brushed off questions about a potential exit with his trademark calm. “I know I’m disappointing you today, but I don’t care,” he joked. “Anything will be a fantastic farewell whenever it happens—whether that’s May 25 or 2026.”

Despite trailing Barcelona by four points with just five games left, Ancelotti refused to concede the title race. Last season’s treble-winning manager insisted his team will fight until the end.

“We’ve had an almost perfect season, but we’ve faced a lot of challenges,” he said. “Anything can still happen. The one thing that won’t happen is us giving up. If we win these last five games, we can turn this into another great season.”

Ancelotti’s comments come amid growing rumors that Brazil’s football federation sees him as their top choice to take over the Seleção. But for now, the veteran coach remains fully focused on Madrid—and keeping the pressure on Barcelona.

“Let’s see what happens,” he said with a smile. One thing’s certain: all eyes will be on him come May 25.
