The Brazilian winger reportedly eyes a move after limited playing time and an uncertain future under new management.
Manchester United winger Antony is reportedly exploring options to leave Old Trafford, after a difficult spell at the club. Since his high-profile €95 million transfer from Ajax in 2022, Antony has struggled to make the impact envisioned by former coach Erik ten Hag, who vouched for the player’s worth when he joined United shortly after taking over as manager.
The Brazilian initially expressed optimism about improving his form, telling the English media in the summer about his commitment to enhancing his game. “They will see more – it’s written on paper in my objectives: more work on the right foot, more goals and assists,” Antony shared at the time. However, with just one goal this season, in a League Cup match against Barnsley, and only 27 minutes in Premier League play, he has largely been sidelined, losing his place to emerging talent Amad Diallo.
A report from UtdDistrict reveals Antony’s growing frustration. According to the report, the winger is eager to meet with club officials to clarify his future role but is considering a move if his situation remains the same. New manager Ruben Amorim is rumored to have already identified several players he may look to offload in the January transfer window, with Antony among those considered for a potential loan deal.
Other United players, including Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Victor Lindelof, are also reportedly under review. Despite a recent uptick in form, Casemiro, along with Eriksen and Lindelof, may not fit into Amorim’s long-term plans. While Casemiro has improved in his midfield role alongside Manuel Ugarte, Antony’s lackluster performance has led some to label his transfer one of the costliest mistakes in Premier League history.
Whether Antony will accept terms with another club remains uncertain, especially considering his substantial salary. A loan deal could offer a temporary solution as he looks to regain form and secure regular playing time elsewhere.
