Arteta Delivers Mixed News Ahead of Fulham Clash as Star Winger Declared Fit After Three-Month Absence
Mikel Arteta has handed Arsenal fans a major boost by confirming Bukayo Saka is “ready to go” for Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Fulham, ending the England star’s three-month injury nightmare.
The 22-year-old winger, sidelined since December with a hamstring issue, has been itching to return, with Arteta revealing Saka’s relentless drive in training. “He’s pushing because he really wants to play,” the Gunners boss said in his pre-match press conference. “We’ve respected the timeline, done everything right, and now it’s about picking the right moment. Having him back is a massive weapon for us.”

Saka’s return couldn’t come at a better time, with Arsenal locked in a tense title race. Arteta emphasized the emotional lift his presence brings: “It’s the energy he transmits—he’s missed what he loves most: competing at the highest level. After 48 straight months of football, three months out is just a small blip. The habit is still there.”
However, the news wasn’t all positive. Summer signing Riccardo Calafiori suffered a knee injury on Italy duty, though Arteta reassured fans it “could have been much worse,” with the defender expected back in weeks rather than months. There was better news for Jurriën Timber, who has recovered from illness and is available.
Off the pitch, Arteta welcomed new sporting director Andrea Berta, calling his arrival a “big addition.” The Spaniard praised Berta’s track record and commitment, saying: “He chose us over other options—that says a lot. Now it’s about building chemistry.”
With Saka’s return, Arsenal’s attack gets its spark back just as the season reaches its climax. But with Calafiori sidelined, Arteta’s squad depth faces another test in the weeks ahead.
