Arsenal Close In on Shock Move for Chelsea Star Noni Madueke

Gunners Ready Opening Bid as Winger Agrees Personal Terms in Surprise Cross-London Switch

Arsenal are preparing to make a bold move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, with the England international reportedly agreeing to personal terms ahead of a potential shock transfer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have finalized an opening offer for the 23-year-old, which will be submitted imminently. Madueke has already accepted a five-year contract at the Emirates, keeping him at the club until 2030. The deal would see him compete with Bukayo Saka for a starting role on the right flank, while also offering depth on the left.

The news follows an earlier report from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who revealed that negotiations between Madueke and Arsenal had reached an advanced stage. Chelsea are open to selling the winger after splashing out on new attacking reinforcements, including Brighton’s João Pedro and Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

Madueke, who came through the academies of Crystal Palace and Tottenham before shining at PSV Eindhoven, joined Chelsea in 2023 for €33 million. Despite flashes of brilliance—including 20 goals in 91 appearances—he has struggled for consistent game time at Stamford Bridge. Now, he appears eager to reignite his career under Mikel Arteta.

Chelsea’s Stance: “Only Happy Players Stay”

Blues boss Enzo Maresca addressed the speculation after Chelsea’s 2-1 Club World Cup win over Palmeiras, insisting that only committed players will remain in his squad.

“Noni has been very important for us this season,” Maresca said. “But my message is clear: I want players who are happy here. If anyone isn’t, they’re free to go. This isn’t just about Noni—it applies to everyone.”

The Price Tag

Chelsea could demand up to €58 million for Madueke, despite his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sitting at €51.5 million. With the player under contract until 2030, the Blues hold strong negotiating power—but Arsenal seem determined to push the deal through.

If completed, the move would mark a rare direct transfer between the London rivals and provide Arteta with much-needed attacking depth as the Gunners aim to challenge on multiple fronts next season.
