Arsenal Confident Over Bukayo Saka’s Injury as Manchester City Clash Looms

Winger Expected to Recover After Late Scare in 1-0 Victory Over Tottenham

Arsenal are reportedly confident that Bukayo Saka’s injury scare during their 1-0 win against Tottenham is not serious. Saka, who appeared to pull up in the second half clutching his thigh, was unable to continue after receiving treatment, raising concerns about his fitness ahead of crucial upcoming matches.

Following the game, manager Mikel Arteta expressed uncertainty over the extent of Saka’s injury, stating that he “didn’t know” how severe it was, leaving fans anxious. However, a new report from the London Evening Standard suggests that Arsenal believe Saka’s issue is likely due to cramp rather than a significant injury, and they expect him to fully recover this week.

This update raises hopes that Saka could feature in Arsenal’s next two games, starting with their Champions League group stage opener against Atalanta on Thursday and their Premier League showdown against Manchester City three days later.

The injury scare comes at a challenging time for Arsenal, who were already missing captain Martin Odegaard due to an injury sustained on international duty, as well as Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Declan Rice’s suspension added further selection woes for Arteta.

Speaking after the win, Arteta shared the toll these setbacks have taken, revealing: “I prepared for Tottenham for five days. Then in one moment I lost one player, and in another, I lost another. I didn’t sleep much! But the players love the game. Sometimes to win, you have to do the ugly things, and they love to do that.”

Arsenal will be hoping Saka returns in time to help them maintain their momentum in both the Champions League and Premier League.
