Gunners Face Tough Competition for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich
Arsenal may miss out on signing Euro 2024 standout Joshua Kimmich to Manchester City, according to a recent report. The Gunners, who are eyeing top talent at the European Championships in Germany, are looking to strengthen their squad for a Premier League title push.
After coming close to overtaking City last season, Arsenal knows they need just one or two high-quality players to bridge the gap. However, it appears they might lose out on Kimmich, a key target, to their rivals.
The Mirror reports that Arsenal is interested in Bayern Munich and Germany star Joshua Kimmich. The ‘world-class’ player, as described by Julian Nagelsmann on the official Bundesliga website, has been a crucial part of Germany’s Euro 2024 campaign, playing every minute and helping his team reach the quarter-finals.
Arsenal admires Kimmich’s versatility and hopes to secure him this summer, especially with his contract set to expire next year, potentially lowering his price. However, Kimmich reportedly prefers a move to Manchester City to reunite with his former manager, Pep Guardiola.
City is also keen on signing the 29-year-old, making it a tough deal for Arsenal to pull off. To avoid getting entangled in a difficult transfer saga, Arsenal might consider turning their attention to Fedi Kadioglu, another versatile defender.
Kadioglu, a Turkish international who primarily plays at left-back, could fill a more urgent need for Arsenal. With Oleksandr Zinchenko struggling to meet expectations and Jakub Kiwior potentially leaving this summer, strengthening the left-back position has become a priority for Mikel Arteta.
