Arsenal Eye Sporting CP’s Rising Star Geovany Quenda Amid Interest from Premier League Rivals

The Gunners join top European clubs in pursuit of the talented 17-year-old winger, seen as a promising addition for the future.

Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Sporting CP’s young sensation Geovany Quenda, touching base with the player’s representatives amid strong interest from several Premier League heavyweights, including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool. According to TeamTalk, Quenda is already on the radar of multiple European clubs, but Arsenal’s recent approach underscores their intent to strengthen the right wing as they look towards future stars.

Quenda, just 17, made a notable impact with an assist in Sporting’s recent 4-1 victory over Manchester City, further heightening attention from scouts. His impressive skill and physicality have drawn comparisons with top-tier wingers, and he is viewed as one of Sporting CP’s brightest prospects. The club has recognized his value with a contract lasting until 2027 and a substantial €100 million release clause, reflecting their reluctance to let him go in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are reportedly exploring alternative options on the wing, as a permanent move for Raheem Sterling, currently on loan from Chelsea, appears unlikely. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen have also approached Quenda’s representatives, adding further competition to the mix. Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim has praised Quenda’s talents, though he ruled out any immediate transfers, stating he wants Quenda to develop without rushing his career.

Amorim recently shared his high expectations for Quenda: “He’s a very talented kid, physically robust, focused, and grounded. That’s essential for a young player. He’s been given a chance, and there’s no taking it away—he’s a promising talent, but we must give him time.”

With Arsenal and other top clubs monitoring his progress, Quenda’s future could become a focal point of the summer transfer window, though Sporting will likely be keen to retain their promising young talent for the foreseeable future.
