Arsenal Face Tough Battle for Omar Marmoush as PSG and Manchester United Enter the Race

Omar Marmoush

The Egyptian striker’s rising stock sparks intense competition ahead of January transfer window.

Arsenal’s hopes of securing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush have hit a roadblock as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Manchester United emerge as strong contenders for the Egyptian international. Marmoush has been in scintillating form this season, recording 15 goals and 11 assists across the Bundesliga and Europa League, making him one of the most sought-after forwards in the upcoming transfer window.

While Arsenal initially battled Liverpool for the 24-year-old, reports from Fichajes now suggest that PSG has entered the race and is currently considered the frontrunner. Valued at around €40 million by Frankfurt, Marmoush has attracted attention for his versatility, finishing ability, and vision—qualities that PSG believes make him an “ideal” fit.

PSG’s pursuit is fueled by their need for attacking reinforcements, with Randal Kolo Muani reportedly on the verge of an exit due to not fitting into head coach Luis Enrique’s plans. Marmoush’s adaptability on the wings and potential to thrive in Ligue 1 make the French giants a tempting destination.

According to data analytics experts SciSports, PSG is the second-best fit for Marmoush, scoring a Club Fit rating of 76 compared to Arsenal’s 73. The Ligue 1 champions edge out the Gunners primarily in the categories of playing time and formation suitability, though neither club aligns perfectly with the striker’s playing style.

Manchester United, however, leads the list with the highest suitability score, offering Marmoush the best combination of game time and a tactical setup that complements his strengths. Liverpool trails behind with a score of 64, largely due to concerns over limited playing time and a less favorable formation fit.

With PSG’s financial might, Arsenal faces a significant challenge in convincing Marmoush to choose the Emirates over Parc des Princes. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s ability to promise more consistent minutes and a better tactical match adds another layer of complexity to the chase.

As the January transfer window approaches, the race for Marmoush is heating up, with Arsenal needing to act swiftly and decisively to secure the services of the rising Egyptian star.
