RB Leipzig Striker Nearing Move to the Gunners
Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents. Sesko, who made his mark at RB Salzburg, has continued to impress since joining the Bundesliga club last summer.
Initially serving as a super sub, the 20-year-old Slovenian has become a regular starter in the latter half of the season. Heading into the final game, he is in excellent form, having scored 10 goals and provided two assists since late January. Overall, Sesko has netted 17 goals across all competitions this season.
While Chelsea and Manchester United have also shown interest, Arsenal appear to have the edge in securing Sesko’s signature, according to CaughtOffside. This comes after it was reported on May 3 that Sesko has become Arsenal’s priority target over Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, partly due to his price.
Sesko initially had a €50 million release clause, but Sky Germany now reports that this figure could rise to €60m-€65m, potentially reaching as high as €75m based on performance-related targets in Leipzig’s final game against Eintracht Frankfurt. This discrepancy raises some doubts about how close Arsenal truly are to finalizing the deal.
Adding to the speculation, Sesko’s agent recently posted a picture at Old Trafford, fueling rumors of a potential move to Manchester United, a club that has admired the young striker for years.
