Arsenal in Talks to Extend Thomas Partey’s Contract as Key Players Depart

Midfielder Favors Staying at Emirates Amid Interest from Europe and Saudi Arabia, While Jorginho and Tierney Set for Exits

Arsenal have confirmed they are in active negotiations with Thomas Partey over a new contract, offering hope that the influential midfielder could remain at the club beyond this summer. However, the Gunners are set to bid farewell to Jorginho and Kieran Tierney, whose contracts expire at the end of June.

Partey, whose current deal runs out this month, has attracted interest from top European clubs including Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus, as well as sides in Saudi Arabia. Yet, Standard Sport understands the 31-year-old’s priority is to stay in north London, with talks ongoing between the player and the club.

On Wednesday, Arsenal released their retained list, revealing that discussions are also continuing with academy product Michal Rosiak, whose contract is also up for renewal. The club stated: “Discussions are ongoing, and once matters are finalised between all parties, we will communicate in due course.”

Meanwhile, Jorginho and Tierney are among those confirmed to be leaving. Tierney, the Scottish left-back, is poised for an emotional return to his boyhood club Celtic, while Jorginho is expected to make a move to Brazilian giants Flamengo.

Additionally, goalkeeper Neto will return to Bournemouth after his loan spell, and Raheem Sterling is heading back to Chelsea following a season-long stint at the Emirates. In total, 17 players across Arsenal’s senior and youth squads will depart when their contracts expire, including promising youngsters Jack Henry-Francis, Jimi Gower, and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji—who made the first-team bench last season.
