Arsenal Launch Fresh Push to Sign Gyokeres as Agent Snubs Man Utd

Swedish striker’s move edges closer after agent shuts down United links, with Gunners ready to meet Sporting’s demands

Arsenal are preparing a renewed bid to finally secure Viktor Gyokeres’ signature after weeks of negotiations, with the Swedish striker’s agent ruling out a late hijack by Manchester United.

The Gunners struck a broad agreement with Sporting CP on July 13 for a deal worth €63.5 million upfront plus €10 million in add-ons, but talks stalled over the structure of performance-related bonuses. Portuguese outlet Record reports that Sporting insists the €10 million add-ons must be easily achievable, while Arsenal have resisted—leading to a standoff.

However, with Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, now shutting the door on a move to Old Trafford due to a reported rift with United boss Ruben Amorim, Arsenal are ready to make a decisive push. According to A Bola, the Gunners are preparing a revised offer that could bring the total package closer to Sporting’s €80 million valuation.

Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Gyokeres remains fully committed to joining Arsenal, despite United’s lingering interest. The 27-year-old’s agent is said to be frustrated with Amorim over his treatment of Victor Lindelof, effectively ending any chance of a United switch.

Mikel Arteta sees Gyokeres as the final piece in Arsenal’s summer rebuild, following the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke. A deal for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera is also nearing completion, while Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze remains a potential target.

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has warned that Gyokeres may need time to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality, calling the step up from Portugal “two or three levels higher.” However, with Arsenal desperate to end their long wait for a major trophy, the pressure will be on the ex-Coventry striker to deliver immediately.
