Arsenal Launch Internal Review After Conor McGregor’s Pitch Incident with Bukayo Saka

UFC Star’s Unauthorized Access Raises Security Concerns at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have conducted an internal review following an incident involving UFC star Conor McGregor, who was spotted play-fighting with Bukayo Saka after the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain on last Tuesday. McGregor, who did not have permission to enter the pitch, has raised concerns within the club about security protocols.

After the match, McGregor accompanied Arsenal players Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka onto the Emirates pitch, where he was seen kicking a ball around with the duo. However, the situation escalated when McGregor began play-fighting with Saka, throwing mock punches and kicks at one of the club’s key players.

According to The Times, Arsenal were alarmed by the ease with which McGregor accessed the pitch and engaged with players. Club sources confirmed that McGregor was not authorized to be on the playing field, despite receiving VIP tickets for the match.

McGregor’s hospitality box was located near the post-match players’ area, and he reportedly followed Saka and Rice through the tunnel without interference from security. Although McGregor was eventually asked to leave, the club is now reviewing its post-match protocols to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

McGregor, who has not fought in the UFC since 2021, has shifted his focus toward business ventures. Last year, he expressed his ambition to become the highest-paid athlete in history, aiming to surpass Michael Jordan’s earnings of $3.3 billion.

Arsenal will be looking to tighten security measures to ensure that players’ interactions with celebrity guests are better controlled moving forward.
