Deal Nears Completion as Final Details Are Ironed Out
Arsenal’s long pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres is finally reaching its climax, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano declaring the move is now at the “Here We Go” stage. The Gunners have agreed to pay a fixed fee of €63.5 million, with an additional €10 million in performance-related add-ons.
The final hurdle lies in finalizing the structure of the bonuses, with Arsenal awaiting Sporting’s approval on how these add-ons will be triggered. Once settled, Gyökeres is expected to undergo his medical and sign a long-term contract with the North London club.
Deal Almost Over the Line
Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that Gyökeres’ representatives are already in London, holding continuous meetings with Arsenal to finalize the transfer. “The ‘Here We Go’ for Gyökeres to Arsenal is coming very soon,” he said. “Any moment now could be the official confirmation.”
The Swedish striker has been pushing for the move all summer, even refusing to attend Sporting’s pre-season training in an attempt to force the transfer. His agents had accused the Portuguese club of reneging on a verbal agreement to sell him for around €60 million plus bonuses—a claim Sporting denies.
A Record-Breaking Striker
Gyökeres has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards after a sensational season, netting 54 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions and leading Sporting to a league title. His form follows an already impressive debut campaign in Portugal, where he scored 43 goals last season.
Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old on a contract running until 2030, securing their man as they look to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.
