Mikel Arteta Sees Newcastle Striker as Key to Strengthening Arsenal’s Title Challenge
Arsenal is reportedly preparing to launch an aggressive bid to sign Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, aiming to add a proven goal-scorer to bolster their attacking options. Manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu had pursued a new striker over the summer, including a strong attempt to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. However, after Sesko chose to renew his contract with Leipzig, Arsenal opted not to bring in an alternative forward.
Arteta has since rotated his lineup, using Kai Havertz as a makeshift striker with Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard also sharing responsibilities. Despite scoring 17 goals in their first 10 Premier League games, Arsenal’s recent 1-0 loss to Newcastle has reignited the search for a dedicated goal-scorer who can deliver in high-stakes matches.
According to reports in Spain, Arteta is pushing for what they’re calling a “galactic signing” of Isak, a striker he believes could elevate Arsenal’s attack to the next level. Following Isak’s decisive goal against Arsenal on Saturday, the Swedish international has only fueled Arsenal’s interest. The club is reportedly prepared to offer over €120 million for Isak, surpassing the record fee they paid for Declan Rice last summer.
If successful, the move would not only add depth to Arsenal’s frontline but also signal their commitment to contending for the Premier League title by securing one of the league’s emerging top talents.
