Gunners Confident of Finalizing Deal for Sporting CP Striker Ahead of Pre-Season Tour
Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with a medical already scheduled in London this weekend, according to reports. The Gunners have been locked in negotiations for weeks and now appear close to securing their top attacking target.
Despite recent rumors of a potential collapse in talks, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has insisted the deal remains very much alive. Arsenal and Sporting have been haggling over the final fee, including performance-related bonuses, but both clubs are now working to bridge the gap.
Gyokeres has made his intentions clear—he only wants to join Arsenal. The Swedish forward has reportedly refused to train with Sporting, signaling his desire to force through a move. Even lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia failed to sway him, with the 26-year-old fully committed to playing under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners have already been busy this summer, securing the signings of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, midfielder Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard. Meanwhile, deals for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera are also nearing completion.
With Arsenal set to depart for their pre-season tour of the Far East on Saturday, the club is pushing to finalize Gyokeres’ transfer in time. Reports suggest an agreement worth around €80 million is in place, with only minor details on add-ons left to resolve.
If all goes to plan, Gyokeres could soon be unveiled as Arsenal’s marquee striker signing, providing Arteta with the firepower needed for the upcoming campaign. Fans will be eagerly awaiting official confirmation as the Gunners look to build on last season’s progress.
