Arsenal have been told that they should spend £20m to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester City in January before his contract expires in the summer.
It was expected that Tielemans would leave the Foxes during the summer as he entered the final year of his contract.
It was reported that Leicester were looking for around £30m to cash in on the midfielder but no bids arrived.
Clubs may have caught wind of Tielemans’ stance as he reportedly has no intention to extend his Leicester contract beyond this season.
Tielemans could have easily let his performances drop off this season but he has been in great form and he has captained Leicester on several occasions.
Journalist Dean Jones thinks Arsenal “should be looking to sign Tielemans”.
“I’ve got a massive admiration for Tielemans, the way that he’s raised his game in difficult moments for Leicester and has come full circle really,” Jones told GiveMeSport.
“Over the summer, it didn’t look like he’d be staying, he had to wait it out. Leicester got off to a terrible start, he wasn’t necessarily in form and was struggling to bring the team around.
“Him and James Maddison have totally turned things around, and I think it really shows even more why a club like Arsenal should be looking to sign Tielemans.”
The Gunners are enjoying a superb start to the season as they are top of the Premier League after 13 games.
Most of their players have stepped up this term, with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka being among their star performers.
The two midfielders are vital to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal will be short of quality in centre-midfield if they suffer injuries.
Ex-Premier League supporter Darren Bent thinks Partey and Xhaka are helping Arsenal to look like a “completely different outfit”.
He also believes that the Gunners signing a new midfielder is “so important” and that they would be wise to sign Tielemans for £20m.
“I think it’s so important that Arsenal try and get another midfield player in January,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“Thomas Partey is the most important part of that Arsenal team. When he’s fit and firing like he is at the minute, Arsenal look like a completely different outfit.
“(Granit) Xhaka looks completely different, the back four look more comfortable. (There is a) belief of what’s in front of them.
“(But) I would try and get someone like Youri Tielemans. He’s 25 years old. You’ve seen the repertoire of goals he’s scored this season.
“Also, he’s on a free at the end of the season. Go to Leicester in January, (offer) £20 million, you get him.”
