Gunners Make Last-Ditch Effort Amid Competition from AC Milan
Arsenal is making a last desperate attempt to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to Sky Sports UK. Despite Italian media reports claiming AC Milan has already secured the Dutch striker, Arsenal remains hopeful of turning the tide in their favor.
Reports from Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia, and MilanNews.it all confirm that Zirkzee is set to join Milan, with the Italian club ready to pay the €40 million release clause in his Bologna contract. However, Sky Sports UK suggests that Arsenal is still trying to convince Zirkzee to choose them instead.
Arsenal has shifted its focus entirely to Zirkzee, abandoning interest in Premier League strikers like Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Brentford’s Ivan Toney. Milan’s transfer chief, Geoffrey Moncada, even flew to London recently to finalize details with Zirkzee’s agent.
Zirkzee, who had a breakout season with Bologna, is expected to replace Olivier Giroud at Milan. Giroud is leaving on a free transfer to join LAFC. Zirkzee played a crucial role in Bologna’s surprising qualification for the Champions League, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions.
The 6ft 4in striker is known for his ability to hold up the ball and involve teammates in play, drawing comparisons to Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic. His technical skills, quick feet, and ability to maneuver out of tight spaces make him a valuable asset on the field.
As Arsenal makes its final push, the battle for Zirkzee’s signature remains intense, with the outcome still uncertain.
