Key midfielder, initially feared to be out for months, is progressing well and could be back in “weeks.”
Arsenal fans have received a dose of positive news regarding injured midfielder Kai Havertz, with manager Mikel Arteta providing an encouraging update on the German international’s recovery.
Havertz, 26, has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in training just after the season’s opening win over Manchester United in mid-August. Initial fears pointed towards a lengthy absence, but Arteta has now sparked hope that the player’s return could be measured in “weeks” rather than “months.”
Speaking ahead of his team’s League Cup match, Arteta expressed how much the squad misses Havertz and shared his optimistic outlook. “With Kai, we know that it will be months with him. I don’t know if it can be weeks, you never know because this is Kai and he’s a different specimen,” Arteta told reporters. He emphasized the importance of a full recovery, adding, “We really miss him. Hopefully, he will be back, and back for the long term as well, so it is very important to look after that knee. So far, he’s progressing pretty well.”
While a precise return date remains uncertain, this update will be a welcome boost for the Gunners as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United this Sunday.
