Arteta’s £150m Arsenal Overhaul: Isak and Zubimendi Eyed to Create Premier League “Dream Team”

Gunners ready to smash transfer budget for Newcastle star and Sociedad midfielder in bold bid to dethrone Manchester City and Liverpool

Mikel Arteta is preparing a £150m summer spending spree to transform Arsenal into genuine Premier League title contenders, with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi identified as the missing pieces of his puzzle.

Despite another strong campaign, the Gunners look set to finish runners-up for the third consecutive season – currently 12 points behind an almost flawless Liverpool side with just nine games remaining. Spanish outlet Fichajes reports Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta are ready to make “a significant investment” to bridge that gap, targeting two elite signings who could redefine Arsenal’s spine.

The £120m Striker Solution

At the top of Arteta’s wishlist is Newcastle’s Swedish sensation Isak, with the club prepared to meet what could be a club-record €120m (£102m) fee. The 24-year-old has drawn rave reviews this season, with Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink telling Gambling Zone: “Isak is the hottest striker on the planet right now… When you watch him, he’s always in control – that’s a trait you can’t teach.”

Newcastle’s financial constraints could force a sale, though Barcelona’s lingering interest adds complication. As Hasselbaink noted: “If you want a proven striker, there’s really only one: Isak.”

The Midfield Metronome

Complementing this attacking firepower would be Real Sociedad’s Zubimendi, whose €60m (£51m) release clause Arsenal are willing to trigger. The 25-year-old Spaniard is seen as the perfect midfield orchestrator to partner Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard, offering the technical security Arteta craves.

The Stakes

This double swoop would represent Arsenal’s most ambitious window since Arteta’s arrival, addressing their two clear weaknesses: a world-class finisher and midfield control in big games. While Barcelona monitor both players, Arsenal’s financial muscle gives them an edge – but convincing Newcastle to sell their crown jewel remains the biggest hurdle.

As the Gunners plan their next evolution, one thing is clear: after years of progress, Arteta believes these two signings could finally turn contenders into champions. The question is whether £150m – and some tough negotiations – will be enough to make that dream a reality.
