Footballers’ appearances in controversial stream sparks outrage as family mourns “humiliation stream” victim.

The death of French streamer Raphael Graven, known online as Jean Pormanove, has ignited fierce debate across France, with football stars Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bradley Barcola among those drawn into the controversy.

Graven, 46, was found dead on Monday in Contes, near Nice, after participating in extreme live broadcasts where he endured violent stunts and humiliation for viewer donations. Clips from the streams showed him being slapped, force-fed, and targeted with paintballs—all while audiences paid more than £31,000 to encourage the abuse.

Aubameyang, now with Marseille, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Barcola both appeared in videos used during the broadcasts. Barcola’s representatives clarified that his message was recorded weeks earlier and expressed his condolences, while Aubameyang has yet to comment publicly.

The tragedy has prompted outcry from officials and Graven’s heartbroken family, who say he felt “held hostage” by the abusive format. As investigations continue, the case has cast a harsh light on the dangerous world of humiliation streaming—and those who enable it.
