La Liga Giants Reportedly Offer Ronald Araujo and €50 Million in Ambitious Bid
FC Barcelona are reportedly testing Manchester City’s resolve with a blockbuster exchange offer for star striker Erling Haaland. The 24-year-old Norwegian forward, who has scored 99 goals in 103 appearances for City, continues to dominate headlines with his remarkable performances. So far in the 2024/25 Premier League season, Haaland has netted nine goals in just five matches, cementing his status as one of the most feared strikers in world football.
Despite his immense success at City, Haaland’s future may be uncertain, with reports suggesting he has expressed interest in moving on for a “next step.” Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be among the European heavyweights vying for his signature. According to recent reports, Barcelona are keen to capitalize on the situation, despite their ongoing financial struggles.
Barcelona’s bold plan reportedly involves offering center-back Ronald Araujo, along with €50 million, in a swap deal for Haaland. Araujo, a 25-year-old Uruguayan international, is a key player for the Catalan club but could be sacrificed as part of the deal. The club hopes to take advantage of Manchester City’s supposed interest in the defender to facilitate the transfer.
While City are not in urgent need of a center-back, the deal could be tempting, especially with Haaland’s long-term future uncertain. For now, Haaland remains focused on his current team, with Arsenal star Jorginho recently commenting on how Haaland’s incredible scoring streak has even amused rival players. “Erling scoring again, it is starting to make us laugh,” Jorginho said, adding that Arsenal respects his form but remains focused on their own performance.
