The German giants are reportedly pushing hard for the Crystal Palace defender and hold a key advantage thanks to a rule that could see him leave for free next summer.
The battle for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi is heating up, with Bayern Munich emerging as a serious threat to Liverpool’s long-standing interest. According to the Mirror, the German club holds a significant “advantage” in the pursuit of the England international, who Palace have confirmed will leave the club next summer.
Liverpool’s attempt to sign Guéhi on transfer deadline day ultimately collapsed, and now Bayern Munich is positioning itself as the frontrunner. The key to their advantage lies in the Bosman ruling. Because Guéhi’s contract expires in 2026, Bayern can officially open talks with him as early as January 1st to arrange a free transfer for the following summer, a option not yet available to Liverpool.
The report suggests that Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, has already spoken to Palace manager Oliver Glasner about the player. The German giants see Guéhi as a major opportunity, potentially viewing him as a successor in their defense, and are moving “full steam ahead” to secure his signature.
While Liverpool manager Arne Slot is also an admirer of the center-back, his hint that the club may not rush a January bid could now prove costly, leaving the door open for Bayern to swoop in and lure another English star to Bavaria.
