Ben Foster Claims Marcus Rashford Isn’t Worth £10m Amid Transfer Speculation (Video)

Former goalkeeper questions Rashford’s form and fire, suggesting MLS as a potential next step.

Former England goalkeeper Ben Foster has delivered a scathing assessment of Marcus Rashford, questioning the Manchester United forward’s current value and his ability to reignite his career amid rumors of a potential transfer.

The 27-year-old Rashford has been absent from head coach Ruben Amorim’s last three matchday squads, including the Manchester derby, fueling speculation about his departure. Reports suggest United may sell him to generate additional transfer funds, with Rashford himself recently admitting he’s ready for a “fresh start.”

Speaking on his Cycling GK podcast, Foster expressed doubts about Rashford’s ability to attract top-tier interest:
“Marcus Rashford… There’s so many people that say ‘on his day, on his day.’ But his day comes once every 10 games. You can’t have a luxury player in the modern game delivering so inconsistently,” Foster said.

He further criticized Rashford’s reputation and suggested Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wouldn’t want such a player in his squad. Foster speculated that Rashford’s next move might involve a transfer to Major League Soccer (MLS) and that it would likely require a “massive wage cut.”

Foster also questioned Rashford’s hunger to succeed, suggesting his lucrative contract might have diminished his drive.
“Once that fire goes, can you get it back? It has to come from him, but I don’t think he can reignite it,” Foster remarked. “Money does ruin everything. When players have a massive contract, it can take that fire away.”

The former goalkeeper also dismissed claims that Manchester United could secure £40 million for Rashford, stating:
“They were talking £40 million… Even £10 million, I wouldn’t pay it because of everything that comes with him.”

Rashford, a product of United’s academy, has been a key figure at the club for years, but his recent struggles and reduced role under Amorim have raised questions about his future. Whether he stays to fight for his place or seeks a new chapter abroad, Rashford’s next steps could define his career trajectory.
