In a heartfelt speech, the businessman credited his wife for raising their children while he built his fortune, then humorously told his daughter, “there’s no more daddy, don’t call me.”
At the wedding celebration of his daughter Temi and singer Mr Eazi, Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola delivered a moving and personal speech that honored his wife’s sacrifices and offered heartfelt, if unconventional, advice to the newlyweds.
Otedola began by publicly acknowledging the pivotal role his wife, Nana Otedola, played in raising their children while he was focused on building his business empire. “I must give credit to Nana,” he said, “because when we had Temi, I was busy looking for money to look after them, and she sacrificed everything, all my bad habits, to make sure they were well looked after.”
Turning his attention to the couple, he warmly approved of his new son-in-law, describing Mr Eazi as “a great guy from a decent family.” His advice to his daughter, however, drew laughter from the gathered guests. With a humorous tone, he advised Temi to fully embrace her new role, saying, “One thing I will advise you is to succumb to the whims and caprices of your husband. He is your husband, he is your boss, there’s no more daddy, don’t call me.”
He concluded the speech on a symbolic note, presenting the couple with a copy of his recently published memoir, Making It Big: Lessons From A Life In Business, which was promptly unwrapped at the ceremony.
