Dortmund Worried Arsenal Will Beat Them to Signing Serhou Guirassy
Borussia Dortmund is concerned that Arsenal might outmaneuver them in the race to sign key striker Serhou Guirassy this summer. Despite a quiet transfer window at Arsenal, it appears that the club’s sporting director, Edu, is working diligently behind the scenes.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has ambitious plans to close the gap with Manchester City next season. After a stellar but trophyless campaign, Arteta is determined to add the firepower needed to win silverware.
Arsenal has already missed out on Benjamin Sesko, who signed a new contract with RB Leipzig. Now, the Gunners have turned their attention to VfB Stuttgart’s Guirassy. The Guinea international had an outstanding season, scoring 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga games and netting in both of his cup appearances.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed on social media platform X that Dortmund fears Arsenal the most in the race for Guirassy. Despite no final decision from the striker, Dortmund has made it clear that he is their top target for the summer.
“Guirassy has not yet made a final decision. No club has received his commitment as of this evening. Dortmund has made it clear to him that he is their desired striker for this summer,” Plettenberg stated. He also mentioned that Stuttgart expects Guirassy to leave, and talks have been fair and open.
Although Arsenal typically focuses on younger talent, Guirassy, at 28, could be a valuable exception given his goal-scoring prowess. The striker could be available for as little as £17 million, a bargain considering his prolific form.
With a lower price tag, Arsenal would still have funds to strengthen other areas, such as central midfield. Adding Guirassy could provide the immediate impact Arsenal needs to challenge for titles next season.
