Borussia Dortmund to Decide Jadon Sancho’s Future After Champions League Final

Discussions to Follow Crucial Match Against Real Madrid

Borussia Dortmund has announced they will discuss Jadon Sancho’s future after their Champions League final match against Real Madrid this weekend.

Sancho has been on loan at Dortmund since January, after being sidelined by Manchester United due to a public dispute with manager Erik ten Hag. The winger was excluded from the United squad for poor training performances, which he contested on social media.

Since rejoining Dortmund, Sancho has shown promising form, particularly impressing in the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain. Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, expressed pride in Sancho’s contributions and hinted at his potential impact in the upcoming final.

“We are so proud, we are so happy that he’s in our team at the moment,” Kehl said. “I think he will be very important for us on Saturday. He will show the world that Jadon Sancho is really back.”

When asked about the possibility of signing Sancho permanently, Kehl acknowledged that discussions would take place after the final. Sancho remains under contract with Manchester United until 2026, with an option to extend for an additional year. United is reportedly open to selling Sancho this summer, with bids around £30 million expected to be considered.

Sancho, who last played for England in September 2021, was notably absent from the Euro 2024 squad. His teammate, Emre Can, also missing from the German squad, spoke about their shared disappointment and motivation to prove their worth.

Sancho’s return to form has not gone unnoticed by Ten Hag, who acknowledged his value to Manchester United. “He’s a very good player,” Ten Hag said. “He showed why Manchester United bought him and he showed also he represents a high value for Manchester United, which is good.”
