Cardi B, 21 Savage Lead 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards Nominations with 12 Nods Each Followed Closely by Drake & Burna Boy

Cardi B and 21 Savage are emerging as the frontrunners in the upcoming 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, with both artists securing a staggering 12 nominations each. The highly anticipated awards show will see these two stars go head-to-head in seven distinct categories, including Best Collaboration, Lyricist of the Year, Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Hustler of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse, and Song of the Year.

Following closely behind, Canadian rapper Drake boasts nine nominations, further emphasizing his significant influence in the hip-hop scene. Burna Boy and DJ Khaled are not far behind, each receiving seven nominations. J. Cole has also secured six nods, while Coi Leray, GloRilla, and Jay-Z have earned five nominations each. Lil Uzi Vert has accrued four, and DaBaby, Kendrick Lamar, Latto, Lil Durk, Megan Thee Stallion, and Metro Boomin each have three nominations.

 

Five female rappers have earned multiple nominations, with Cardi B leading the pack, followed by Coi Leray, GloRilla, Latto, and Megan Thee Stallion.

The awards show is scheduled to be taped in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, with its premiere on BET set for one week later, on Tuesday, October 10, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The annual show will be overseen by Connie Orlando, Jamal Noisette, BET’s VP, Specials & Music Programming, Jesse Collins, CEO of Jesse Collins Entertainment, and Jeannae Rouzan–Clay and Dionne Harmon, top executives at Jesse Collins Entertainment.

BET promises that the telecast will commemorate 50 years of hip-hop with unmissable moments and performances.

Voting for the DJ of the Year, Producer of the Year, and Best Hip Hop Platform categories will begin on Tuesday, September 12, at noon ET on the BET website, where additional information about the awards can also be found.
