Carlo Ancelotti Backs Mbappe to End Goal Drought Soon

Real Madrid manager says a return to form is just a matter of time.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed confidence that Kylian Mbappé will soon rediscover his scoring touch after enduring a rare month-long goal drought. The French forward has not scored for Los Blancos since their 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo on October 19.

Since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, Mbappé has contributed eight goals and two assists in 16 appearances across all competitions. While his recent form has sparked conversations, Ancelotti remains unfazed.

“Just a Matter of Time,” Says Ancelotti

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s next match, Ancelotti assured fans that Mbappé’s quality will shine through soon.

“It happens to all great strikers. He might get frustrated, but that’s not the case here. I see him motivated and happy during training,” Ancelotti said, as quoted by Reuters.

“Sooner or later, he’ll end this streak. Tomorrow could be the day he has a great game. His quality is incredible, and it’s just a matter of time before he shows it again.”

Adapting to a New Role

Since arriving in Madrid, Mbappé has taken on a more central role in attack to complement Brazilian star Vinícius Júnior. Ancelotti clarified that neither player has a fixed position, emphasizing their flexibility and willingness to adapt.

“Kylian has never asked for a specific position. Everyone just wants to be in the starting XI,” Ancelotti explained. “Mbappé and Vinícius don’t stick to one spot; it depends on the match.”

France Absence and Mental Health Speculation

Mbappé’s recent omission from France’s UEFA Nations League squads also raised questions, with national coach Didier Deschamps citing the toll of a packed schedule and the influence of social media on players.

Ancelotti, however, dismissed any concerns about Mbappé’s mental health, responding firmly to speculation.

“What a question,” he said, according to Forbes. “I don’t think so. I see him happy and enjoying his time here. Speculating about his mental state feels unfair.”

Looking Ahead

As Real Madrid prepare for their next fixture, all eyes will be on Mbappé to see if he can end his dry spell. With Ancelotti’s unwavering support and his undeniable talent, the 24-year-old seems poised to bounce back sooner rather than later.
