Interim boss eyes reunion with forward as Barcelona loan decision looms.
Interim Manchester United manager Michael Carrick would welcome Marcus Rashford back to the club next season, according to a new report from  The Daily Telegraph, setting up a potential tug-of-war for the forward’s future.
Rashford is currently on a season-long loan at Barcelona, where he has scored nine goals. The Spanish club holds a £26 million option to make the move permanent but has yet to act on it.

Carrick, who took temporary charge after Ruben Amorim’s sacking and is a candidate for the permanent role, is keen on a reunion with his former teammate. The pair shared the pitch for three seasons at United, and Carrick reportedly believes the 26-year-old still has much to offer at Old Trafford.
This stance puts him at odds with the player’s current wishes. Sources indicate Rashford is settled in Barcelona, enjoys a good relationship with manager Hansi Flick, and hopes to make his loan move permanent.
The final decision rests with Barcelona. While they have not officially communicated their plans to United, financial considerations may lead them to try and negotiate a new deal rather than pay the set fee. If they decline the option, Carrick’s desire to reintegrate Rashford could become a key part of his potential long-term project at the club he once captained.
