Chapecoense plane crash survivor Rafael Henzel dies

It’s another sad day in the world of Brazilian football.

That’s after it’s been confirmed that Chapecoense plane crash survivor Rafael Henzel has died while playing football.

Rafael Henzel was a football reporter.

According to UOL Esporte, Henzel passed away after suffering a heart attack during a football match.

Henzel was just 45-years-old.

UOL Esporte note that Henzel was scheduled to commentate on this week’s Brazilian Cup match between Chapecoense and Criciúma. That match may now be postponed as a sign of respect and mourning.

The Chapecoense plane crash

Rafael Henzel was just one of seven people who survived the 2016 Chapecoense plane crash.

71 others died in the tragedy.

Chapecoense had reached the final of the Copa Sudamericana, which is equivalent to the Europa League in Europe.

Chapecoense were scheduled to play the Copa Sudamerica final against Atletico Nacional in Medellin.

Sadly that never happened after the Brazilians’ plane crashed in Colombia.
