Chelsea Agrees to Sell Romelu Lukaku to Aston Villa Amid Transfer Drama

Belgian Striker Set for Permanent Exit as Napoli Eyes a Swap Deal

Chelsea has reportedly reached an agreement to sell Romelu Lukaku to Aston Villa this summer. The Belgian international, who has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy, is poised to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

While the Saudi Pro League has shown interest in Lukaku, a return to Serie A has been widely speculated as his next move. Antonio Conte, Lukaku’s former manager at Inter Milan, is keen to bring him to Napoli. However, the Italian club can only complete the transfer if their star striker Victor Osimhen departs, leading to ongoing talks of a potential swap deal.

Despite these discussions, Chelsea and Napoli have yet to finalize any agreement. Meanwhile, reports from Italy, specifically from the outlet Il Mattino, suggest that Chelsea has reached a full agreement with Aston Villa for Lukaku’s transfer.

Aston Villa is looking to sell Colombian forward Jhon Duran and has reportedly agreed on a fee with Chelsea to acquire Lukaku as his replacement. Chelsea is now pushing for Lukaku to join Unai Emery’s side. However, the 31-year-old striker is reportedly not interested in personal terms with Villa, preferring a reunion with Conte at Napoli.

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea for €113 million in 2021 but has struggled to make an impact, leading to his expected departure this summer. His current contract with Chelsea runs until 2026, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €35.2 million.

During his loan spell at AS Roma last season, Lukaku scored 21 goals in 47 appearances. His last goal for Chelsea came against Leeds in May 2022.

As the transfer window progresses, Lukaku’s future remains uncertain, with both Aston Villa and Napoli vying for his signature.
