That crucial breakthrough has now arrived. According to reports, a fee has been struck with the Italian giants that will see Nkunku, who has agreed to a five-year contract, depart for San Siro. In a further clear-out of attacking talent, striker Nicolas Jackson is also nearing a loan exit to Bayern Munich, with advanced negotiations underway for the Bundesliga club to cover his full salary.
With these two players off the wage bill and a substantial fee incoming for Nkunku, Chelsea’s financial constraints have eased, allowing them to focus on finalizing a deal for Simons. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has consistently stated that the 21-year-old is destined for Stamford Bridge, noting, “Chelsea keep working for Xavi Simons, I can guarantee that. They are in contact with people in charge of the deal.”
