Chelsea Players React to Pochettino’s Departure

Nicolas Jackson and Teammates Express Surprise and Gratitude

Nicolas Jackson has voiced his disappointment over Chelsea’s decision to part ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday night. Despite ending the season with five consecutive wins, Chelsea quickly decided to look for a new direction ahead of the summer.

Pochettino had met with club officials in two meetings on Monday and Tuesday to discuss his future, ultimately agreeing that an exit was best. This decision leaves Chelsea searching for their fourth permanent head coach under the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership.

Although Pochettino faced calls for his dismissal during his debut season at Stamford Bridge, he managed to turn things around in the new year. Chelsea’s form improved significantly, securing European football with a game to spare. However, fundamental differences between Pochettino and the club led to his departure, much to the dismay of many players who had developed under his guidance.

Jackson, in particular, seemed baffled by the news. He took to Instagram to share his thoughts, posting two face-palm emojis over an image of himself with Pochettino. The 22-year-old striker wrote: “Love you coach. Wish we could stay together more [face palm emoji]. But may God continue to bless you and your family. Thanks for the advice and support, you’re a true lion and fighter. Wish you all the best [red heart emoji].”

Jackson also posted a picture of Pochettino with his arm around him, along with a repost of a message from November where Pochettino praised the team’s attitude and results. The message followed a victory over Tottenham, highlighting the progress the team had made under his leadership.

Several other players also expressed their appreciation for Pochettino. Carney Chukwuemeka, who had limited playtime due to injury, posted: “Thank you coach [blue heart and prayer hands emoji].” Moises Caicedo added: “Mister! It was a pleasure [sad face emoji]. I wish you all the best for the future! What a person and what a coach [blue heart emoji].”
