The Blues have planned ahead, finalizing a pre-agreement to bring the Dutch forward to Stamford Bridge in 2026
Chelsea have laid the groundwork for a major future transfer, reaching a full agreement to sign Strasbourg captain and striker Emanuel Emegha in 2026. The deal, confirmed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, will see the Dutch international join the London club on a long-term contract.
Rather than a move next summer, Emegha will remain with the French side for two more seasons. Romano stated that Chelsea acted now to secure their man, anticipating significant interest from other top European clubs in the future. The player’s wish to stay and lead Strasbourg in their upcoming Europa Conference League campaign was also a key factor in the timing.
The 21-year-old has become a crucial player for Strasbourg, scoring 14 goals last season and being named captain ahead of the current campaign, where he has already netted three times in four games. This move continues the strong pipeline between the two clubs since Chelsea’s parent company, BlueCo, purchased Strasbourg in 2023, making Emegha the tenth player to move between them.
Upon his arrival in 2026, Emegha is expected to immediately bolster Chelsea’s attacking options, potentially competing with the likes of Liam Delap and João Pedro for a starting role. While a transfer fee has not been disclosed, the forward’s current market value is estimated at over €26 million.
