Serie A Star Osimhen Tops Chelsea’s Wishlist, Prompting Consideration of Outrageous Fee for Albanian Forward
Chelsea Football Club is eyeing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as their dream signing, but acquiring the Serie A hitman may hinge on the successful sale of one of their own players – Armando Broja. The Blues are reportedly considering an astronomical price tag for the 22-year-old forward in a bid to raise substantial funds for the potential Osimhen deal.
Armando Broja has played a pivotal role for Chelsea since his return from a severe knee injury in September. The management team at Stamford Bridge believes that selling Broja could contribute significantly to the funds required to secure Osimhen, who comes with a hefty price tag, possibly around €120 million, contingent on the release fee embedded in his Napoli contract.
Reports from The Telegraph suggest that Chelsea has slapped a staggering €58 million (£50 million) price tag on Armando Broja, signaling their high expectations for a substantial transfer fee.
However, this valuation has raised eyebrows in the football community, considering Broja’s current form. The Albanian forward has only managed to score two goals in 17 appearances this season and has a total of 23 senior career goals, including his loan spells at Vitesse and Southampton.
Despite Broja’s current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €20 million, which reflects his injury-related setbacks, Chelsea is optimistic that the €58 million valuation aligns more closely with the player’s potential. This lofty figure is in stark contrast to his previous ETV of €42 million before suffering an ACL injury in December 2022.
Critics argue that potential suitors are unlikely to commit to a substantial fee for Broja until he proves his fitness and goal-scoring prowess once again. The forward faces competition from Nicolas Jackson and must secure a regular spot in the starting lineup to demonstrate his capabilities.
While a permanent transfer seems ambitious, several Premier League clubs have expressed interest in securing Broja on a loan deal, with up to eight clubs reportedly exploring this option. The interest is fueled by Broja’s commendable record, having netted six goals in 32 appearances during his loan stint with Southampton in the 2021/22 season.
