Chelsea’s Osimhen Interest Criticized by Former Referee: He Has No Finishing Ability

Despite striker’s 12 goals this season, a Turkish pundit claims Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen is a “disorganized” player.

Chelsea have reportedly revived their interest in signing Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, but the potential move has been met with stinging criticism in Turkey, where a prominent pundit has dismissed the Nigerian star’s finishing skills.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray for a club-record €75 million this summer after Chelsea baulked at his wage demands, has scored 12 goals in 16 appearances. Despite that form, former Turkish Super Lig referee Erman Toroglu delivered a scathing assessment of the 25-year-old’s ability following a match this weekend.

“Osimhen has no finishing ability, he’s a bad, disorganized player,” Toroglu said on Ekol TV. “He comes to you for this money. Why didn’t he go to England or Germany? I guess they didn’t think he could play for them.”

Toroglu argued that Osimhen’s technique pales in comparison to his teammate Mauro Icardi. “If those balls in this match had gone to Icardi, he would have scored,” he claimed. “In terms of football quality, Icardi is far superior.”

The criticism comes amid renewed speculation linking Osimhen with a move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s current strikers, João Pedro and Liam Delap, have struggled for consistency this season, leading to suggestions the club will re-enter the market for a proven number nine.

Osimhen’s goal-scoring record, however, suggests he would offer a significant upgrade. Whether Chelsea’s hierarchy will be swayed by the sharp critiques from abroad or focus on his tangible output remains to be seen as the club plans for the future.
