Chelsea’s Pursuit of Atletico’s Samu Omorodion Fails, Eyes Now on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen

The Blues Shift Focus After Failed Transfer, Explore Sensational Moves for Victor Osimhen and Joao Felix

Chelsea’s attempt to sign Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion has collapsed, but the club is reportedly eyeing a stunning new target in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues had been pursuing Omorodion even before news broke of Conor Gallagher’s potential move to Atletico. With Nicolas Jackson scoring 14 goals in his debut Premier League season last year but facing little competition due to Christopher Nkunku’s injury, Chelsea had prioritized signing a striker. However, the deal for Omorodion fell through at the last minute due to changes in the 24-year-old’s contract, as reported by El Chiringuito’s Marcos Benito.

In response to this setback, Chelsea is now setting its sights on Napoli star Victor Osimhen, a player they have been tracking for several transfer windows. Osimhen played a crucial role in Napoli’s Serie A triumph last season, scoring 26 goals, and was effectively off the market last summer with the Italian club demanding around £200 million for his transfer. However, with Napoli failing to qualify for European competitions this season, they are reportedly willing to lower their asking price, potentially bringing it to just under £100 million.

In addition to Osimhen, Chelsea is also considering a potential return for forward Joao Felix, with Romano claiming that talks are underway for Felix to be part of a deal involving Gallagher’s move to Atletico. Romano stated, “Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are now discussing Joao Felix to Chelsea as part of the Gallagher deal.”

Felix, who had a mixed loan spell at Chelsea during the 2022/23 season, scoring four goals in 16 Premier League games, spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he netted seven goals in 30 appearances. However, Barcelona opted not to make the move permanent.

As Chelsea navigates the complexities of the transfer market, the club’s ambitions to bolster its attack remain clear, with high-profile targets like Osimhen and Felix now in their sights.
