Chelsea Star Says He Ignores ‘Idiots’ Online as Penalty Seals Vital Win Over Liverpool”
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer had a message for his online critics after breaking his three-month goal drought in a crucial 3-1 victory over Liverpool: their words mean nothing to him.
The 21-year-old, who hadn’t scored since January, fired home a stoppage-time penalty to secure the win and immediately dismissed the negativity he’s faced on social media. “There are too many idiots and trolls out there,” Palmer said post-match. “I don’t pay attention to any of that. My focus is on improving and helping the team.”
After Enzo Fernández’s early opener and a Jarell Quansah own goal put Chelsea in control, Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk threatened a late comeback with an 85th-minute header. But Palmer kept his nerve from the spot to seal the victory—and silence his doubters.
“When you’re not scoring, it weighs on you,” he admitted. “But I’ve always believed in my mentality. Today, I played with confidence, and the goal is just a step forward.”
The young forward also praised teammate Moisés Caicedo, calling him Chelsea’s “best player this season” for his relentless work ethic and humility.
For Palmer, the win—and the goal—were about proving his worth, not pleasing the trolls. “I’ll just keep pushing,” he said. “The noise doesn’t matter.”
