Cristiano Ronaldo Hints at Retirement Timeline, Rules Out Coaching Career

Portuguese Superstar Eyes Life Beyond Football with Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers of all time, has given a glimpse into his retirement plans, hinting that his playing days may soon be coming to an end. The 39-year-old Portuguese icon, who currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, also revealed that he has no intention of pursuing a career in coaching once he hangs up his boots.

While Ronaldo remains a prolific scorer, netting 50 goals in 51 appearances last season and comfortably winning the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot, he acknowledged that retirement is on the horizon. Speaking to NOW, Ronaldo said, “I don’t know if I will retire soon, in two or three years… but probably I will retire here at Al-Nassr. I’m very happy at this club, I feel good in this country too. I’m happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue.”

Ronaldo’s current contract with Al-Nassr, which reportedly pays him £3.2 million per week, is set to expire at the end of the season. However, reports suggest that he is in talks to extend his deal until 2026, indicating his desire to continue playing for a few more years.

As for his life after football, Ronaldo made it clear that coaching is not on his radar. “It’s very difficult to think that I will be a manager one day,” he admitted. “In my mind, I’m not considering being the head coach of any football team. I don’t even think about it. Probably I see my future doing things out of football.”

Ronaldo’s post-playing ambitions are diverse. He recently launched a YouTube channel that has already garnered over 48 million subscribers, and he has previously expressed an interest in acting. “When I quit football I would like to resume my studies. I focus a lot on studying, on learning, because unfortunately, the studies I have done can’t answer all the questions I have in mind,” Ronaldo said in a 2019 interview. “One thing that fascinates me is to want to try acting in a film.”
