Cristiano Ronaldo Set to Extend Al-Nassr Stay with New Two-Year Deal

Portuguese superstar, 40, appears to end exit rumors as contract talks near completion—just weeks after hinting at departure

Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of signing a new two-year contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, according to reports. The Portugal captain’s current deal was set to expire this month, sparking uncertainty over his future after he posted a cryptic social media message following the club’s final league game.

Last month, Ronaldo wrote “the chapter is over” on Instagram after Al-Nassr’s season concluded—leading many to believe he was preparing to leave. But instead of an emotional farewell, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner now looks set to continue his Middle Eastern adventure.

Since arriving in Riyadh as a free agent in December 2022—after a stormy exit from Manchester United—Ronaldo has been a relentless force for Al-Nassr, netting an astonishing 99 goals in 111 appearances. Last season alone, he bagged 35 goals, securing the Saudi Pro League’s Golden Boot as top scorer.

Despite his individual success, Al-Nassr fell short in the title race, finishing 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad in third place. The club is also in transition off the pitch, having just parted ways with manager Stefano Pioli—formerly of AC Milan and Inter—after just one season in charge.

With contract talks nearing completion, it seems Ronaldo’s record-breaking Saudi journey is far from over. Fans will now wait to see if the veteran forward can hit another milestone—his 100th goal for Al-Nassr—early next season.
