Dangote Group Mourns As Phyna’s Sister Succumbs To Injuries After Accident

The conglomerate expresses “deep sorrow” and reveals plans were underway to fly Ruth Otabor abroad for advanced medical care before her tragic passing.

The Dangote Group has issued a statement of profound grief following the death of Ruth Otabor, the elder sister of Big Brother Naija winner Phyna (Ijeoma Josephina Otabor). Ruth passed away weeks after being seriously injured in a road accident involving a Dangote truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.

In a heartfelt release, the massive conglomerate expressed its devastation and detailed the extensive support it had been providing since the incident occurred. The company confirmed that its officials and insurance partners had been covering all financial and medical costs for Ruth’s care.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor,” the company’s statement read. It revealed that arrangements had been finalized to airlift her to India for advanced treatment, pending final clearance from her doctors.

“Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today,” the statement continued.

The passing was first confirmed by the Otabor family’s legal representatives, Eko Solicitors & Advocates. In its response, the Dangote Group reaffirmed its core values of safety and compassion, offering its deepest condolences to the grieving family.

“At Dangote Group, safety, accountability, and compassion remain at the core of our operations,” the company stated. “We remain committed to strengthening our safety systems and supporting those affected in moments of tragedy. May God grant her mercy and eternal rest.”
